Step 1 - Calculate Volume
Choosing the right skip bin size depends on the scope of your project, site access, and the type of waste you are disposing of.
Based on our experience, the following skip bin sizes are typically suitable for common projects:
- Bathroom renovation: 3–4 cubic metres
- Kitchen renovation: 4 cubic metres
- Moving house (large clean-up): 4–6 cubic metres
- Moving house (small clean-up): 2–3 cubic metres
- Deceased estate: 10–30 cubic metres
Brickwork or concrete demolition:
Calculate length × width × depth, then allow an additional 50% for packing inefficiency.
Note: Brick and concrete typically weigh around 1.5 tonnes per cubic metre.
If you’re unsure, choosing a slightly larger skip is often more cost-effective and helps avoid the inconvenience of needing a second bin.
Please also consider site access, available space for placement, and driveway width relative to the skip truck and remember that hook lift bins are delivered on a larger truck than chain lift, or marrel bins.
